Learn about how you can enhance education through indoor and outdoor gardening from Steve Koontz, Keep It Watered, and Graham Towerton, Permaculture Adventures of Michigan.
Graham is the founder and CEO of Permaculture Adventures of Michigan and COO of Permaculture Canada. He hails from Australia and also enjoys US citizenship after moving to the US in 2001.
Graham first learned about permaculture in Australia in the early 1980’s while in high school and working on his parents’ farm in sub-tropical Queensland. He has always applied permaculture principles on his own properties, whether small or large, in Australia and the US. Graham obtained his Permaculture Design Certificate from Geoff Lawton’s Permaculture Research Institute of Australia in 2021. He has since provided two years of design, consultation and installation services as a contractor for Food Forest Abundance with over 60 designs completed in 4 countries and over 300 consultations spanning 16 countries.
Steve is an indoor gardening specialist and owner of Keep It Watered.
Over 20 years ago, Steve received a free packet of gourd seeds and planted them in a small patch of ground in the front of his house. Not only did the seeds sprout, but the gourd plants took over the driveway and wound themselves into the screen door. That was when his passion for gardening first took root
In 2012 Steve began growing indoors on a Tower Garden. In 2015 he began helping schools purchase and utilize Tower Gardens in classrooms. Since then he’s helped school systems throughout Indiana and across the county enhance education through indoor gardening.
