A Tower Garden is a soil-less gardening system sold by independent Tower Garden distributors. Juice Plus is the parent company. I’ve heard it called a Grow Tower, Garden Tower, and several other names. Read more about a Tower Garden.
What is the Tower Garden made of?
The Tower Garden is made from food-grade plastic that is compliant with both U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidelines for food contact and European guidelines for Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances. This material is much better than standard PVC pipe.
What is the best Tower Garden?
There are two Tower Garden options. Which Tower Garden is best for you will depend on your growing goals.
With the Tower Garden Home, you can easily grow greens and herbs indoors. Tower Garden HOME comes with everything you need to begin growing up to 32 plants now.
With the Tower Garden Flex, you can grow your own vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers. Get everything you need to start growing up to 20 full-sized plants now.
How do Tower Gardens work?
Tower Gardens are soil-less gardening systems. A Tower Garden works because plants don’t need soil to grow. Plants need light, air, water, and nutrients. The Tower Garden supplies the nutrients through the Mineral Blend. Your environment provides the air. If you’re growing outdoors, God provides the light from the sun. If you’re growing indoors, light kits can be purchased from Tower Garden. Each plant has it’s own growing port. The seeds are planted in rockwool and placed into the ports. The water is put in the tub at the base of the Tower Garden. A pump pushes the water up through the middle of the Tower Garden so the water can wash the roots.
How many plants can be grown in a Tower Garden?
The number of plants your Tower Garden can grow depends on which Tower Garden growing system you purchase
- Tower Garden HOME holds up to 32 plants.
- Tower Garden FLEX holds up to 20 plants — whether you’re growing vegetables, herbs, fruits or flowers. With an extension kit, you can grow as many as 28 plants. With a baby greens extension kit, it holds up to 52 plants.

Does the Tower Garden use any soil?
No, the Tower Garden is an aeroponic growing system. The plants get their nutrients from a liquid nutrient solution that’s put into the water.
How do the plants get watered?
The Tower Garden plants get watered by a pump that sits in the basin. The pump runs for a few minutes each hour, pumping water from the basin through a pipe in the middle of the Tower Garden. The water spreads out at the top and runs through holes in the inside of the Tower Garden washing the roots.
How much time does it take to maintain a Tower Garden?
Once planted a Tower Garden can be maintained in about 10 minutes each week. Water needs to be added to the basin along with a nutrient solution and the pH of the water checked and balanced.
What plants can be grown in a Tower Garden?
Just about anything can be grown in a Tower Garden that isn’t a tree or root crop. Outdoors a Tower Garden can grow tomatoes, watermelon, strawberries, peas, beans, peppers, and other fruiting crops as well as lettuces and herbs. Flowers like marigolds can also be grown. Because it’s difficult to reproduce the sun, lettuces and herbs are the easiest to grow indoors. It’s not impossible to grow fruiting crops like tomatoes indoors on a Tower Garden, but it can be difficult.
How much electricity does a Tower Garden use?
Because the lights are LED and the pump only runs a few minutes an hour, the Tower Garden uses minimal electricity. It does depend on your location and the cost of your electricity, but some estimates are around $12 per year.
How long does it take plants to grow in a Tower Garden?
Because conditions, like watering, can be regulated, plants can grow faster in a Tower Garden than in the soil. Some plants grow up to 3 times faster.
How often do you change the water in a Tower Garden?
How often you change the water depends on what you grow. Typically it’s good to clean out and refresh the water at least every 6 months.
Where should a Tower Garden be placed?
When growing indoors, place your Tower Garden anywhere there’s a GFI certified power outlet. The corner of a room can work great. Just give it about 3 square feet so you have enough room for the lights. Outdoors the Tower Garden will work fine in the yard as long as the extension cord you use is rated for outdoor use and it’s plugged into a GFI certified outlet. Usually an east facing porch or deck that has some protection for the Tower Garden is good.
Are plants grown in the Tower Garden considered organic?
No, the plants grown in a Tower Garden are not considered organic. They’re actually better than what you would buy in the store as labeled organic because you know where the plants have been grown and what’s been used on them. Read more about a Tower Garden and organic produce.
What’s in the Tower Garden Mineral Blend and where does it come from?
The Tower Garden Mineral Blend is derived from minerals extracted from the soil. Here are the Tower Garden Mineral Blend ingredients:
