Spider plants growing in a Tower Garden

Students at Washington Elementary School in Warsaw, Indiana, are going to find out. Steve was at Washington on Monday to teach 6th grade students about growing plants in a Tower Garden. Thought of as hydroponics, a Tower Garden is actually an aeroponic growing system because the plant roots hang in the air.

Students took cuttings from houseplants, cut a rockwool cube in half, and secured the plants into the cubes with rubber bands. Philodendron, Inch Plant, Spider Plants, and more were placed into the Tower Garden. Students will track the progress of the plants over time to see how they grow.
